O WHATSAPP COMO MEDIADOR DO ENSINO DE SURDOS DURANTE O ENSINO REMOTO EMERGENCIAL EM UMA ESCOLA EM DUQUE DE CAXIAS/RJ
Abstract
This article analyzed the use of the WhatsApp application in communication between teachers and deaf students in the early years of elementary school at a Deaf Education Center in the Municipal Education Network of Duque de Caxias/RJ, as an alternative to avoid interruption of the educational process during emergency remote learning (ERL). Elements such as the possibility of student dropout, family participation in the process, and the existence of public policies guaranteeing the rights of deaf students during ERL were considered. Semi-structured interviews were conducted during the data collection phase of the case study. It was concluded that WhatsApp facilitated the mediation of educational processes in deaf education; however, problems such as digital exclusion, the low participation of parents/guardians in this context, and the lack of public policies guaranteeing the rights of deaf students in school activities hindered the implementation of various educational practices.
